CKDC partners with local nonprofit, [Un]tethered Planet, to recycle dance material!

[Un]Tethered Planet (UTP) is a local nonprofit that aims to keep textiles out of landfills by repurposing, up cycling, and reselling clothing. CKDC is proud to partner with UTP to connect those with a need in the St. Louis community and to be a resource for up-cycling textiles that can’t be resold or recycled. CKDC’s Costume Swap program to help lower income families and their generosity to offer their staff and artists as resources helps further the mission of UTP.

Visit [Un]Tethered Planet at https://www.utplanet.org to learn more about UTP and about CKDC’s partnership.

11 years of Consuming Kinetics Dance Company

St. Louis-based Consuming Kinetics Dance Company will begin its 11th year May 1, so we checked in with Arica Brown, Founder/Artistic and Executive Director, to talk about the ups and downs the past decade and a year have brought for her and the resident organization.

Like many of the Kranzberg Arts Foundation performing arts residents, CKDC has been virtually active since COVID-19. The dance company has pivoted their educational programs to Patreon, a platform in which users can pay for digital content at various price tiers. Check out CKDC classes on Patreon here.

Intrinsic

CKDC's Fall 2017 Dance Concert, Intrinsic, took a deeper look at the four elements. Intrinsic not only focused on the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water but also had an underlying theme of caring for our planet. Intrinsic featured work of Artistic Director, Arica Brown, resident choreographers Sam Gaitsch, Ashreale McDowell and Olivia Perez and guest choreographers Thom Dancy and James Robey. Intrinsic was made possible by The Missouri Arts Council, www.missouriartscouncil.org, and by our Executive Producer, Grace Snively. A press release about Intrinsic written by Elizabeth Semko, can be found by clicking this link. Thank you to our generous patrons who celebrated our last concert at The Kranzberg Arts Center with us! Thank you for helping us outgrow this space and we look forward to seeing you in the Marcelle in 2018!
