We keep textiles out of landfills. Living low or zero waste should be accessible and affordable. We start with textiles by making them sustainable and attainable for all lifestyles. We do this by: resale, recycling locally, up cycling and practical philanthropy to help those with a need. We also take care of our artists with our community costume closet.

UTP recycles or up-cycles every last article of clothing received. In America, 85% of clothing is not recycled and is in landfills. We want to show our customers that it is possible to live sustainably. We do that by giving a new life to 100% of our textiles.

Partners

What sets them apart:

  • Local advantage - They feel they have a responsibility to the community which is fulfilled by supporting local businesses.

  • They have their own trucks and trailers - they can pick up whenever and wherever necessary

  • Variety - their wide range of customers means more clothing gets reused or repurposed than by the average textile recycled.

Remains, Inc.

Remains is our main partner for recycling textiles that cannot be sent to those in need or up-cycled. Remains recycling business has expanded to include a wide variety of used clothing and post-industrial textiles to be reused or repurposed into usable materials for an increasing customer base. Approximately 95% or more of those items could have been recycled or repurposed.

Since 1981 they continue their commitment to reuse and recycle used clothing and textiles. From clothes to bed linens to coffee bean bags, they’ve recycled and repurposed items giving them new life as useable clothing, fiber products, paper products and more.

They process over a tractor trailer load of clothing and textiles per day. That is about 44K pounds!

If you’d like to make a clothing or costume donation, we can schedule a pick up or drop off.
