Concert information

Consuming Kinetics Dance Company is a 501c3 nonprofit professional dance company. We produce two full-length dance concerts every year, in the Spring and Fall. Through our organizational mission and vision, CKDC hopes to model how every single person has the power to create change, even when it doesn't seem possible. More importantly, we seek to continue using dance and performance arts as vehicles for community organizing, culture-shifting, and public activism. We believe that not only is dance a catalyst for life in motion, but that dance can cultivate change on a larger scale, impact business practices, and encourage community members of all backgrounds and experiences towards social action.

Saturday, May 1 | 6:30pm
Sunday, May 2 | 6:30pm

Consuming Kinetics Dance Company’s (CKDC) spring 2021 concert, Human Disturbance is an interrogation of humankind’s impact on Earth. Through the medium of contemporary dance, Human Disturbance explores topics including climate change, material resource consumption, wildlife preservation, and natural disaster. Our choreographers investigate many of the challenges we face on our planet today while also proposing approaches to address these concerns. In Human Disturbance, we acknowledge the duality of humankind’s destructive and creative impact on the planet; we hold loss, chaos, and apocalypse together with abundance, possibility, and regeneration.

Friday, November 19 | 8:00pm
Saturday, November 20 | 8:00pm
Sunday, November 21 | 2:00pm

Consuming Kinetics Dance Company’s (CKDC) fall 2021 concert, [R]evolution, centers themes of justice and power, and offers a vision for a more just and humxne future. In [R]evolution, we intend to explore topics including but not limited to police brutality, body shaming, Black hair, capitalism, interracial relationships, voting rights, gender equity, and food apartheid. Our choreographers and artists investigate many of the challenges we face in our society today and use movement and performance to generate dialogue and action to address these systemic issues. [R]evolution was original scheduled in the weeks prior to the 2020 national presidential election; through this performance, we hoped to not only inspire electoral action, but to support broader activist efforts to dismantle the systems of oppression we live in, including racism, white supremacy, capitalism, heteropatriarchy, xenophobia, sexism, and ableism
