CELEBRATING FIFTY YEARS OF HIP HOP!!!
The name, Beat Kill Jam, comes from the important role that rhythmic proficiency plays in the judges determination of who will advance to the next level/round. You can make a donation to support this event under our SUPPORT tab. Your support ensures that our MCs, DJs and judges will be adequately paid for their time and that we can insure and announce our cash prizes in every category in advance rather than rely on door earnings. Your support helps keep The Beat Kill Jam a safe space and event and can guarantee the winners in every category have something to bring home.
In the world of dance, street art is wildly underrepresented and underappreciated. Some of our industry's top athletes include krump, breaking and other hip hop artists. Much like the Delmar divide, there seems to be a line drawn in the sand between studio and street dance. CKDC is determined to blur that line. Not only do we recruit and encourage hip hop artists to crosstrain with us, but every year we give them a platform to showcase their talents and a chance at winning cash and prizes in five street dance categories. The Beat Kill Jam, Founded by Raii Morehead in 2010 and attracts 600 - 1,000 dancers and spectators every year!
CKDC is an arts community that reflects the diverse identities of the residents of St. Louis and its surrounding region. We demonstrate and practice a commitment to racial and cultural equity through the dance styles we offer, by fusing different dance styles into our works, and by centering diversity in hiring teaching artists and company members. We are committed to using dance to incubate a compassionate shared experience with creative practices that center and celebrate diverse cultures, and to make classes and performances accessible to those who are marginalized by systemic economic oppression and neglect.

The Beat Kill Jam is an All Styles Hip Hop Dance Competition that takes place annually in St. Louis, Missouri. It is one of the few events thrown in St. Louis which brings all styles of Hip Hop dance under one roof. The Beat Kill Jam was founded by Raii Morehead, Hip Hop Dance Educator for CKDC since 2009 and Arica Brown, Executive Director of CKDC. The jam was designed with the intention of bringing together different styles of Hip Hop dancers to share dance, compete and enjoy the love of street arts together.
“The Beat Kill Jam is a true display and appreciation of community and diversity. Artists travel from various cities to attend and compete in the event. It’s an incredible sharing of the dedication that each artist contributes to their craft”
