Maggie Fleita | Apprentice


Maggie is from the Chicagoland area. Growing up in Niles, IL, Maggie danced with Virtuoso Performing Arts where she served as a dancer, choreographer and teacher, as well as Maine South High School’s Orchesis Dance Company, where she continues to collaborate with and choreograph new works. She continued her dance career in to college where she was a Grace Keenan scholar at Creighton University. Under Patrick Roddy, Patti Zukaitis and Nichol Mason Lazenby, Maggie has danced and choreographed in various shows with Creighton, such as The Nutcracker and A Nightmare's Holiday, both of which she danced in lead roles. She has also danced with tbd., a modern dance collective in Omaha. Maggie's choreography has been showcased in the Illinois High School Dance Festival, various Chicagoland shows, Creighton Dance Performances, Still Inspired (?), Future Artist Showcase and Nebraska in Motion Choreography Showcase. In Omaha, she taught at the Omaha Academy of Ballet and as a volunteer dance teacher for Dancing Beyond Limits, an organization that offers dance classes to children with special needs. Along with teaching dance, Maggie is also a group fitness instructor, certified in Barre Intensity. 

Maggie is currently in graduate school at Washington University's School of Medicine in St. Louis pursuing her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. For her doctoral project, she is interested in studying the effectiveness of improvisational dance as an intervention for people with Parkinson's Disease. She is so thankful for her CKDC family and looks forward to her continual growth with the company.
