Kelsey Keil | Company Dancer
Kelsey graduated cum laude from Webster University in 2012 where she earned a BA in Dance. In addition to classical and modern studies, Kelsey pursued performance art, post-modern dance, dance for film, and qigong to contribute to her degree. Kelsey attended the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC where she trained intensively with acknowledged faculty, and improvised with post-modern dance icons Ishmael Houston-Jones, David Brick, Yvonne Meier, and Keith Hennessey. Through Webster University's study abroad program, Kelsey studied traditional Thai dance at Patravadi Performing Arts School in Thailand where she taught, choreographed, and performed. Following graduation, Kelsey lived one year in Israel training, choreographing, and performing in the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company International "Dance Journey" Study Abroad Program. While living in Israel, Kelsey focused on studying contact improvisation in addition to studying Gaga technique with Batsheva Dance Company members. In 2013, she returned to St. Louis and joined local dance company Leverage Dance Theater. As a company member she performed in the St. Lou Fringe Habdash, Am I the Only One by Leverage Dance Theater, National Dance Week St. Louis, and the 7th Annual Spring to Dance Festival. With Leverage Dance Theater, Kelsey choreographed for and performed in St. Lou Fringe Festival 2014. Kelsey has provided open contact improvisation jams to the community, as movement therapy and enjoyment. She now has the pleasure of performing with Consuming Kinetics Dance Company.
