Kaitlyn Whiteman

Kaitlyn (Grimes) Whiteman from Erie, PA received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at Slippery Rock University (SRU) in 2011. Kaitlyn was the Student Director of Slippery Rock University’s Dance Theater. In 2011 she was awarded Outstanding Performer by the faculty of SRU’s Dance Department.  She had the privilege to perform and be involved in countless dance concerts on and off campus and was invited to adjudicate at the American College Dance Festival Association in both 2009 and 2011.  

Kaitlyn has worked with guest artists Tania Issac, Chad Hall, Natalie Desch from Doug Varone and Dancers, and Lindsay Fischer. She has also been able to work with Slippery Rock Dance Professors Nola Nolen-Holland, Teena Custer, and Jennifer Keller. In 2010, Kaitlyn was asked to showcase her co-choreographed Duet “Forgotten Presence” at Dance Alloy Theater’s “Celebration of the Next Generation” Concert as well as perform a work by Slippery Rock Dance Alum, Bailey Bretz in the Three10 Moment concert in Pittsburgh, PA.  

Kaitlyn performed with the Erie Bayhawks, an NBA-D League Dance Team, from 2011-2014.  She was asked to perform with Erie Company, City Style Swing at various concerts and events from 2012-2017. Continuing her dancing career, Kaitlyn joined SOMAR Dance Works in 2015, also a dance company based in Erie, PA under the artistic direction of Solveig and Mark Santillano. Their choreography has been influenced by their association with their former companies, Pilobolus Dance Theatre and Momix.        

Kaitlyn joined CKDC in 2018 and is currently an active educator and performer within CKDC.
