Carl Bringenberg | Capoeira Instructor and Company Apprentice
Carl has been practicing Capoeira with Capoeira Volta Ao Mundo under the supervision of Mestre Rony Costa of Sarasota Florida and Professor Espigão of Springfield Illinois since 2007 and led classes at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville from 2009-2015. Carl holds a 3rd degree black belt in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu/Ninjutsu headed by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi of Nodashi, Japan, and taught Taijutsu/Ninjutsu as well as general self-defense as regular classes as well as workshops on specific topics at SIUE from 2006-2014. In addition he has been a 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance since 2014, and has been a practitioner of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for over eight years.
Carl’s first introduction to dance was as a volunteer stage fighter with Rena’s Dance Studio in Edwardsville Illinois for a production of Romeo and Juliet as a Junior in high school. Ever since he has had a deep appreciation for movement of all kinds, but did not pursue dance again until taking a semester of ballet as an elective while attending SIUE in 2013. Once again dance was put on hold until 2016 when a Google search for “Adult Contemporary Dance” led him to a drop-in at CKDC, and he has been hooked ever since.
