Brenda Chen | Visiting Artist
Brenda is a student at Washington University in St. Louis from Pasadena, California. She has been dancing since she was three years old, starting with ballet and a little bit of jazz and hip-hop at San Marino Dance Academy and Pasadena Civic Ballet. She then quit the studio life for her high school school’s dance team, in which she was a member all four years, serving as captain two. She was also an active member of her school’s performing arts department, participating in every dance concert and spring musical. As a senior, she earned the Carol Babcock Dance Award, given to two seniors who have demonstrate excellence and dedication to dance throughout their high school careers.
At WashU, Brenda realized that she wants to spend as much time as she can dancing in between her studies and other commitments. She has danced in Washington University Dance Theater, Washington University Dance Collective, Spirit of Korea, and Lunar New Year Festival, as well as attending the American College Dance Association festival for the past two years. She also has been in the Washington University Hip Hop Union since her freshman year, where she will serve as Co-Showcase Director. She is extremely excited to work with CKDC for the first time and to continue pursuing her deep passion for dance.
